Responding officers found 52-year-old Clacius Tate on the 100 block of Seymour Avenue around 7:10 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II said in a joint release.
Tate, of Newark, was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8 p.m., Stephens said alongside Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. O’Hara.
There have been no arrests, and the incident is still being investigated.
